Fatty, fatty two by four...

I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday (I go every 2 weeks) where they check my weight, blood pressure, baby's heartbeat, and then feel my cervix to make sure it is hanging in there.  This was the 4th visit with this new doctor, and everything has been OK, a few scares with the cervix but nothing major, and it is nice to hear his little heartbeat every 2 weeks and to be reassured that everything is going well.

One of my fears of getting pregnant has always been that I will get fat, real fat cause I love food, and never lose the weight because I hate to exercise.  I also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (read about it here), so I have an excuse...ish.  When I found out I was pregnant, I had a plan.
"OK, I will eat healthy, do yoga, and go on walks so I won't get fat, real fat.  For my height and weight, gaining 25-35 lbs is healthy, so I will gain 25 that way I won't have as much to lose.  I am a genius and this will be a piece of cake!  ooooh....cake..."

My first trimester I was so stinking tired that I said, "I'll wait until my second trimester to start doing yoga so I don't fall asleep doing downward facing dog."  By the time my second trimester was approaching, I changed doctors and she noticed that my cervix is shorter than it should be, became worried about me losing the baby, and told me several times, "No exercise!"  Crap!  There goes my plan.

I was still planning to eat well and would control it that way.  My first appointment with the doctor, I hadn't gained any weight...SCORE!  The second appointment, I lost a pound...I'll take it!  The third appointment, I gained 2 pounds...the doctor was glad to see me gaining a little.  The most recent appointment, I gained 5 pounds.  Now, if I was going once a month like a normal person, 5 pounds between visits might not be a big deal, but I go every TWO weeks....this was not in the plan.

Dr. Samuels said to me, "Well, because you are so tall, I'm not really concerned," translation: if you were a normal height, I would be upset right now.  I asked her what I should be gaining and she didn't want to give me a number because that would freak me out, so instead she said she likes her patients to gain a total of 25 pounds.  She told me to eat when I'm hungry and to make smart choices with food.  I told her my goal is 25 pounds and she gave me a look of "you haven't even hit the part yet where you really start to get big and you have already gained 7....how's that working out for you?"

I went home with a new plan to just make smart choices for the remainder of the pregnancy.  The next morning, I came to work and Chic-fil-A brought in a ton of chicken biscuits for us.  Yesterday, we had a charity lunch where I was fed a HUGE and delicious cheeseburger and fries, and then my wonderful husband made me a very yummy dessert after dinner.  This morning, I dragged myself in to work only to find that donuts had been delivered for the station.

I need a new plan...

Someone has a sweet tooth...

Last night I made blackberry cobbler for Steve (he has only been asking for it for the last year).  Of course, if you have cobbler of any sort, you MUST have ice cream with it and then I had some heavy whipping cream that I needed to use, so we had whipped cream too.  It was pretty de-lish and I think my new little friend (tenant of my tummy) enjoyed it as well.  Here's the recipe from who else...Pioneer Woman.

I laid down to go to sleep last night and this boy was the most active he has ever been.  I'm pretty sure there were cartwheels, backflips, and cannonballs going on in there.  Someone had a sugar high.  Or, maybe he was doing this:

Thank goodness he's not big enough that it is uncomfortable yet, rather it feels like when you are on a roller coaster and you "lose your stomach".  I refrained from putting my arms up in the air and screaming though...
(OK, I know her hands are not up and she is not screaming...but her face is HILARIOUS!)

I am dreading the days when weird things like this could be happening to me:

Some of you may think that is interesting or cool, but I find it creepy and weird.  Let's hope he doesn't try to crawl out of my belly button in a few months...

I have been orientated.

This morning I went to orientation for the Houston Association of Realtors.  This is one of the final steps to getting my license set up so we can buy another house.  Steve is chomping at the bit to get started on at least one more.  I on the other hand, between work, pregnancy, and life, am exhausted at the thought.  When is this second trimester burst of energy supposed to hit???

It will be nice to get another house or two under our belts though.  Our current rental is going so well (I just knocked on some wood),  that we have no hesitations about adding more.  We will not be completely gutting another house like the last one though.  (If you haven't already, go read my first several posts, then take a shower and a nap because that is what those posts make me what to do.)  Really, we don't have the option to attempt another undertaking like that due to my job and the little man growing inside of me.  Can't you just see me painting, sanding baseboards,  or pulling out bathtubs with a baby attached to me?  Would it be more acceptable if I got him a little tool belt of his own???

Speaking of the little guy, he is moving a lot more lately.  Today as we watched the Gators kick some Vol booty (it wasn't pretty, but I'll take it), he was very active.  I'm glad he's already a Gator fan.  I am also getting bigger.  The instructor at orientation apologized after the class because she didn't realize I was pregnant or she would have told me to feel free to go to the bathroom as needed.  This was the first person who has realized I am pregnant without me telling them.  The jig is up....he's growing.

At our last appointment, I got to see his VERY long legs, his still developing (yet very intelligent looking) brain, his nose, his ear, his heartbeat, and all the other good stuff going on inside of there.  The doctor said he weighs about 10 ounces now and is about 10 inches long.  I have finally gained a little weight too.  2.5 lbs people!  I'd better slow down.  I have absolutely no problem with gaining the least amount of weight that is still healthy for the baby.

While watching the game today though, I came to a very scary realization, "I have no Gator clothes that will fit my new figure and we are going to a game in 2 weeks!"  I frantically shopped online and found a few orange and blue dresses that I ordered and hope will fit for the game.  This is quite possibly the only time in my entire life that I have not had a plethora of Gator clothes to wear.  I should be ashamed.

Steve is fishing in Galveston tonight so I have a date with my DVR.  Oprah, General Hospital, Teen Mom, watch out!

I didn't fall off the face of the earth....

I'm just a busy lady.  Here is a brief recap:

-Had my last fight with AT&T resulting in setting a date for the termination of our Internet contract.

-Forgot about the quickly approaching date, and wondered why I couldn't get online.

-Remembered 2 days later that I had it canceled.

-Started using my iPhone to check Facebook and to read people's blogs, but did not want to tackle typing a post on that touch screen.

-Went to another doctor's appointment where we learned everything with little Mr. Callaway is going smoothly and that I need to eat more.  YES MA'AM!  Apparently, I lost a pound...pretty sure I have taken care of that though.

-Ate.

-Fulfilled my every, single craving, indulgence, whim, bad choice.

-Finally started to get in the swing of things at work, and then got very stressed with the thought of the launch date quickly approaching.

-Visited my family in Florida.  Saw my Nanny (mom's mom) who has Alzheimer's, and my uncle and 2 aunts on my mom's side.  It was a great visit.  Unfortunately, I don't get to that part of Florida very much to visit.

-Made a promise to myself to get better at that.

-Also visited my aunt, uncle, cousins, nephew, and grandma on my dad's side at the river.  My dad brought the boat down from Ohio and so he, Steve, and my uncle did lots of bass fishing.  Meanwhile, back at the ranch...hahaha, we girls did girl stuff.  In my case, this involved reading (I started The Help because I want to read it before I see the movie), eating, floating, eating, sleeping, eating, struggling to put on a pair of shorts that used to be too big, ripping them off and putting on another sundress, and eating some more.  It was glorious!

-Had the launch of SweetJack.com in Houston that kicked off with GREAT success.

-Signed some other great deals for this month.

-Took a picture of my baby bump.

-Signed up for a new Internet provider.

-Set up new Internet only to find out that the 12 year old who processed my order didn't hear me mention that I wanted WIRELESS Internet (I didn't know they even made another kind of modem anymore).

-Carried the modem downstairs, plugged in the computer and took a deep breath as I re-entered the land of the living (aka, the world wide web).

The End.
