Help out my friend...

My friend Kristi (not me, a girl in Chicago who happens to have my name and spell it the same exact way) is one of those people that seems to come out on top in every situation.  Don't believe me, here are some examples:

1.  She was cast on the Bachelor.  Unfortunately for her, it was the season of Bachelor Bob and so, needless to say, she didn't find true love.  Still, who gets to experience something like that?!?!

2.  She has two ridiculously gorgeous children who were both born early with incredibly quick deliveries (this will resonate more with my readers who are moms).

3.  She started a blog, which was then noticed by her local newspaper, who approached her to write a weekly column (which turned into 2 columns), for which they were happy to pay her.

4.  Most recently, she thew a Pinterest party for her girlfriends.  Allow me to explain: She prepared loads of yummy appetizers she discovered on Pinterest, decorated with ideas she found on Pinterest, wore a dress she found on Pinterest, and asked each guest to bring a Pinterest craft complete with all of the supplies it would require and instructions.  They then had a "white elephant" type gift exchange with all of the crafts.  She then blogged about this party, and someone else wrote about it on another blog, and low and behold, CBS's new morning show read one of the posts and asked her if she would consider throwing another party that they could come out and film and do an entire segment on.  So, that is happening this weekend.

If you aren't saying, "come on, really?" yet, then you clearly do not have the jealousy issues that I have.  (Of course this jealousy lies just below my joy that my friend gets to have such great experiences.)

Oh, and have I mentioned that she is gorgeous?

ugh!

OK, here's how you can help.  Do me and the other Kristi a favor and "like" her blog's fan page on Facebook. Here's the link:  https://www.facebook.com/WhineCheez
Also, go visit her blog here:  http://kristi-gilbert.blogspot.com/  and become a follower.  She is hoping that with all of this exposure that she will get the attention of the powers that be who pay you to post ads on your blog.  (Isn't that just the icing on the cake of all of this???  I'm really happy for her....really.)

Sincerely, Kristi is an amazingly funny girl (if you like my humor, you will love her) and her kids didn't fall far from the tree.  I guarantee you will love her blog.

Now Kristi and I need to have a discussion about some kickbacks.  (The other Kristi...I don't plan to talk to myself about this.)

Thanks friends!!!

What else do I need to know?????

So Davis started this new routine of being really whiny at night.  I was getting nervous that it was colic because the research I had done said it normally is at its worst in the evenings.  Then, Saturday night, he started crying around 6, and cried, and cried, and cried....for over 2 hours.  Poor Steve was trying everything in his power to calm him down while I was trying not to cry myself.

Then something magical happened.  I was texting with a dear friend of mine and told her what was going on.  She then told me about these drops you can give babies to relieve them of gas and that she had to use them a ton with her son.  I immediately raced to Walgreens and bought some drops in hopes it would help my poor little guy.
By the time I gave him the drops, he was so upset that it still took quite awhile to calm him down, but his cries quickly transformed from screams of pain to wails of anger.  I can live with anger, the pain cries were painful for me!

After telling a friend about this, it became apparent that almost everyone knew about these miracle drops.  Am I the only one who didn't know about them????  Apparently.

So here's my question:

What else do I need to know that will help my baby be happy????????

Eskimo Baby

We are beginning to establish a little more of a schedule in this house.  Our exciting days consist of: eating time, wake time, sleep time - repeat.  Who says being a mom isn't glamorous???  I haven't showered today, I was spit up on at least 4 times in the last 24 hours, and have changed about 100,000 dirty diapers.  Looking on the bright side, I haven't been peed or pooped on in several days...I'd better find some wood to knock on.

Tuesday was Davis' 2 week doctor appointment.  He weighs 9 lbs 6 oz and is 20 3/4" long.  Anyone who doubted my milk production, TAKE THAT!  (He started at 8 lbs 13 oz and 19 1/2" long.)  The doctor was very impressed with his growth, which Davis was very happy about because he thinks she is very pretty.

Today, Davis got his first real bath.  The pediatrician removed his nub of an umbilical cord on Tuesday.  She said it was, "hanging on by a thread" and I am so glad she took care of business because even the thought of it makes me gag.  Give me dirty diapers all day long, but keep that thing away from me!  During the sponge baths he has been forced to endure since his arrival on this planet, Davis would scream his face off until I wrapped him tightly in his hooded towel.  Today however, he sat calmly in the water and basked in its warmth.  The screaming didn't start until I took him out and put lotion on him....he hates that.

Then he got a little more upset when I put this outfit on him:

It was a gift from the group we hunted with in South Africa and is soooo soft...I just had to see how it looked.

After all of the screaming, he quickly fell asleep and is still in said outfit.  Maybe he's getting used to it.  I would kill to have a super-soft footie pajama outfit like that!

Today has definitely been a more peaceful/less stressful day.  Maybe tonight when Steve gets home I won't hand Davis to him and go hide in the shower for 3 hours like I may or may not have done last night.

Speaking of Steve, let me just tell you how having Davis has made my heart want to burst with love for that man.  He is so adorable with his son.  When I was hiding in the shower last night, I looked out and saw the two boys curled up on the bed having a chat about their day.  I could have died.  The rest of the night I couldn't pry Davis from Steve's hands....at least until it was time for the little guy to eat again.  Just wait until they can hunt and fish together; I will be an afterthought.  I hope they stay really close forever.

My first 2 weeks of life through pictures

Since Davis' arrival, life has been quite different.  I was lucky enough to have my mom here for 2 weeks and now I am experiencing having someone "attached to your hip" in the truest sense of the word.  When do moms go to the bathroom???

Rather than writing lots of posts or a super-duper long one about what has gone on in the last 2 weeks, I thought I would just share pictures to fill you all in.  So, here we go: (Davis will narrate.)

We were scheduled to go in to be induced on 2/13, but I decided to send mom into labor at 1:30 in the morning before we had to go in.  I'm full of surprises.

They gave mom the pitocin around 6:00am and I made my debut at 1:21pm.  This is the first time I got to see my mom and she got to see how handsome I am.

Then my dad came over.  As soon as I heard his voice, I recognized him and looked right at him.  We became pals right away.

We spent some quality time together.  Male bonding type of thing.

I tried to take in everything he had to tell me.

Next I got to meet my Gram.  She's my new best friend.

After a few days in the hospital, it was time to go home.  Mom was so nervous to take me home and be responsible for me.  Let's hope she can handle it.

I took a little snooze after I got home.  All of these new things are exhausting.

My Gramps got to town while they were bringing me home.  He sure is a fun guy and kept telling me how handsome and smart I am.  I liked him instantly!

My Uncle Greg and Aunt Catherine came over.  I slept for about 3 straight hours in their arms.  I think mom wants them to move in.

Because I was a little Jaundice, the doctor said they should supplement some formula.  This was dad giving me my first bottle.  Immediately after they fed this to me, I had a blowout which led to my first bath.  I was up all night tonight and the next night with an upset tummy, so mom said no more formula for me.

Uncle Greg and Aunt Catherine brought me tulips and then Aunt Ellie, Uncle Tom and Gram Weez sent me flowers in this awesome red wagon.  The wagon is now on a shelf in my room.

On Friday, Auntie Beth came to town to meet me.  She is awesome and took some great pictures that show off my handsomeness.  (I will show the pictures in a different post.)

Mom and Beth are best friends.  We had a very fun weekend.

Dad gives the best snuggles.

My new friends Micah and Toby came over to visit.

These boys are so fun and I can't wait to play with them more when I get bigger.

I also got to meet my Memaw and Papa.  They are dad's parents and are lots of fun.  They also invited me out for Mexican food.  Yummy.

Just me and Gram spending more time together.

She is HILARIOUS!  Life is good so far!

You don't want to see mama get mad.

So much for this little boy coming early.  Tomorrow is my due date and I have decided that as of Tuesday, I will start charging him a daily late fee.  I am not giving up that he will show up today or tomorrow though.

Tuesday I have an ultrasound scheduled where they will check my fluid levels.  If they are low, they will induce that day.  If not, I go to my regular weekly doctor appointment where I am going to request they strip my membranes again....maybe I will pull out a cheer from my cheerleading days in elementary school about being AGGRESSIVE!

If he doesn't show up by Monday the 13th, we have an induction scheduled; but let's hope that is unnecessary.  My doctor asked if I had an issue with being induced on the 13th because I guess a lot of people are superstitious to the point of avoiding giving birth on this day.  I let her know that I have no qualms about it, but now am wondering if I should have made a it big deal so she maybe would have scheduled it for the Friday before....probably not though.

So, that's the plan.  Say your prayers for me, however, that he comes sooner rather than later.

Boy, get out here STAT!  (you know I'm serious when I bust out my medical terminology...)
