As a salesperson, I am a firm believer that everything is negotiable. Remember the Kate Spade handbag I was hoping to buy with the winnings from our weigh-in I talked about in this post? Well, after the piss-poor showing at the weigh-in, there really wasn't a clear winner and so I have been looking for a Plan B to get this bag.
I told Steve he technically owed it to me because of all of the work I did filling in as his assistant (I warned him he couldn't afford me, and he didn't listen) but he insisted that I owed him one more day of work. After trying to hold out for about 2 weeks to see if he would cave, I finally decided I could handle one more day at his office if it got me this beautiful bag. That was until we wandered into Coach...
I wasn't intending to buy anything, but have been wanting a nice leather white bag for this summer and they had a beautiful one on sale. Steve even agreed that it was a great deal and said I could get it...instead of the Kate Spade. I DON'T THINK SO! I told him I would just hold out for Kate if that was my option. That's when the negotiating began.
First rule of negotiation: Never make the first offer. I asked him how many days I would have to work to have both. He said a week. Um...no thank you. I countered with 1 more day. He said 3 days, I said 2, he said OK, and I yelled "DEAL!" and then rushed back to Coach to buy the white bag. Check her out:
So, Monday and Tuesday of this week, I went in to the office and made phone calls for Steve and his direct....the 2 longest days of my life. I kept my eye on the prize and it helped me power through.
Today, I headed over to the Galleria, walked in to Kate Spade, and bought her!

Ahhhh....
Here comes the strip tease...
Peek-a-boo!
Ta-Da
Look at her!
The inside is built just like my favorite Cole Haan bag.
She even matches the wallet I bought myself for Valentine's Day.
(Long story short, Steve didn't get me anything for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple and I was trying to figure out how to tell him I had just bought myself a Kate Spade wallet for no particular reason. Perfect solution: I told him thank you very much for my new wallet...I love it!)
Knowing me, there will be a new bag I will be goal-setting for by this time next week. We may have to turn Steve's golf room into a big closet to hold all of my bags and shoes.
On my way out of the mall, I walked through Chanel just to day dream and drool a little. My heart was racing. Everything in that store is a true work of art. Ahhh.....the small joys in life.
